METSO PDP403 communication industrial control card
METSO PDP403 If MVME162 attempts to access an out-of-vehicle resource at a location that does not exist, and if the system does not have a global bus timeout, MVME162 waits forever for the VMEbus loop to complete. This will cause the system to lock.
There is only one situation in which the system may lack this global bus timeout: when the MVME162 is not a system controller and there is no global bus timeout elsewhere in the system. Multiple MVME162s can be installed in a single VME chassis.
In general, hardware multiprocessor functions are supported. Note: If you are installing multiple MVME162 cases in the MVME945, do not install the MVME162 in slot 12. The height of the IP module may cause gaps in the slot in difficult locations where other MPUs on the VMEbus can interrupt, disable, communicate with, and determine the operating status of the processor.
A register (Global control/status register) set of GCSR consists of four bits and is used as a position monitor to allow an MVME162 processor to broadcast signals to any other processor.
All eight registers can be accessed from any local processor as well as the VMEbus.
