Piezomagnetic sensor is based on the principle that the magnetic permeability changes under the action of mechanical force. The sensor is made of a single piece of stainless steel with four holes punched in the stainless steel body. Through these four holes are wound two sets of coils, which are at an Angle to each other. When an alternating current is passed through the primary coil, a magnetic field is generated in the primary coil. Because the primary and secondary coils are at an Angle to each other, no magnetic field is generated in the secondary coil as long as there is no load on the sensor. When a mechanical force is applied to the measurement direction of the sensor, the magnetic field propagation direction in the primary coil changes, incorporating the secondary coil into the magnetic field. Because the magnetic field in the secondary coil changes, an induced potential is created in that coil.
