The RET670 provides selective and rapid protection, monitoring and control for two – and three-coil transformers, autotransformers, phase-shift transformers, transformer banks, special railway supply transformers and shunt reactors. The RET670 can operate correctly over a wide frequency range and can adapt to system disturbances or system frequency changes during generator start-stop.

The RET670 is extremely sensitive to minor internal faults in the transformer. The RET670’s unique and innovative sensitive differential protection based on the symmetric component method maximizes the internal interturn short-circuit fault of the winding. Zero-sequence current differential protection of the low impedance type can be used as a complement to the fast and sensitive main protection response to ground faults. The additional zero sequence current direction criterion further improves the safety.
