The 8200-1302 is one of several Woodward 505 digital governors that can be used to control steam turbines. The operator control panel acts as a graphical interface and keyboard, allowing the turbine to be adjusted and communicated. This can be configured via a Modbus communication port located on the device.
The 8200-1302 has a variety of functions available:
Automatic start sequence for hot start and cold start with temperature input option,Three speed belt critical speed avoidance,10 external alarm inputs,10 external DI trip inputs,Trip indication for trip and alarm events and associated RTC timestamps,Two-speed and load dynamics,Peak speed indication of overspeed trip,Zero speed detection,Long range sag,Frequency dead zone.
The unit also offers three normal operation modes, including configuration, operation and calibration modes.
The device includes two redundant speed inputs and can accept a magnetic pickup unit, eddy current probe, or eddy current probe. It has analog inputs (8) and can be configured for any of the 4 functions. The device also has an additional 20 contact inputs. The first four of these contacts default to turn off increase speed setpoints, reset, and decrease speed setpoints. Others can be configured as needed. In addition, the unit has two mA control outputs and eight Form-C relay contact outputs.
The front panel of the 8200-1302 includes the Emergency trip key, backspace/Delete key, shift key, as well as the view key, Mode key, ESC key, and home key. It also has navigation cross keys, soft key commands, and four leds to correlate the state of the control and hardware.
